MARILYN MANSON Faces Reduced Charges In Michigan!
December 29, 2001A Michigan judge on Friday dropped criminal sexual misconduct chargesa fourth-degree felony that carries a maximum penalty of two years in prisonas well as a misdemeanor count of assault and battery charges against MARILYN MANSON for his concert antics during the July 30th stop of Ozzfest at the DTE Energy Music Theater in suburban Detroit. According to the original complaint, MANSON allegedly approached 25-year-old security guard Joshua Keasler, spit on the man's head, wrapped his legs around the guard's head and neck, and rubbed his crotch against him. Although Keasler explicitly described the events to Judge Gerald E. McNally, the judge agreed with MANSON attorney Walter Piszczatowski that the singer's actions were purely for the shock value of the frontman's act and not for sexual gratification. McNally reduced the sexual-misconduct charge to one of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and let stand the assault and battery charge. Both counts carry $2,000 fines but no jail time. MANSON, who has pleaded innocent to all charges, is currently free on a $25,000 personal bond.
